PhysX SDK is popular physics middleware, highly adopted by developers used in more than 400 released games for consoles and PC.
PC games can be devided into two categories:
- Games with software PhysX - games including common physics content (rigid bodies, ragdolls, vehicle physics), calculated by PhysX SDK physics engine on CPU.
- Games with hardware PhysX support - games featuring supplementary physical effects (dynamic smoke, explosions with lots of physical particles and chunks, fully simulated clothing), designed to be accellerated by NVIDIA GPUs/Ageia PPUs.
