Ageia (Ageia Technologies, AGEIA) was a fabless semiconductor company founded in 2002.
Ageia is known as inventor of Ageia PhysX PPU - Physics Processor Unit, speical chip designed for high performance calculations of in-game physics. Also, Ageia has developed and licensed out PhysX SDK physics middleware (formerly known as NovodeX before being bought out by Ageia in 2004).
History
Ageia was founded in 2002 by five engineers, one of them, Maju Hedge, has become company CEO. Name "Ageia" was formed by combining first letters of countries its founders originated from - America (A), Germany (G), Egypt (E), India (I) and America (A)[1].
