Hybrid PhysX mod 1.02: 195.xx drivers and Win XP support
GenL has released updated mod for hybrid PhysX systems – now it works with recent 195.xx GeForce drivers and supports Windows XP/2003
UPDATE: Hybrid PhysX mod 1.03 released – with timebomb fix and lastest drivers support.
- added support for new checks in 195.xx drivers
- added support for XP/2003 drivers
- both x86 and x64 are supported by a single mod nowNotes about the mod:
- Both x86 and x64 are supported by a single file now. If you are using x86 OS, you should just skip patching 64-bit binaries (press No when asked for a search).
- Don’t forget that you must be able to access nvidia control panel. For this connect nvidia GPU to the second input port of your monitor – physically or virtually (i don’t know if this is possible), or any other way you find. There are community-generated tutorials for this, i can’t tell anything because i own only 1 GPU.
- Lite version may come later, if needed. Additionally, i can fix errors if you find them and release it with an update.Notes about XP/2003 support:
- Only 195.62 drivers are tested for XP/2003 case. I can’t say anything about earlier versions, i didn’t even try them.
- It should work for XP/2003 x64 editions too, would be great if anyone will confirm.
- It will work for 2000 only if original XP/2003 package supports it.
You can download PhysX mod 1.02 directly from our server (2.19 mb) *

Update #2: 1.02 mod is working with new 196.21 drivers.
Update #4: 1.02 mod may not work properly with 196.75/197.xx drivers, users are also reporting incompatibility with 9.10.0222 PhysX System Software.
In addition, original post contains mod for PhysX drivers 9.09.30, that allows to use original Ageia PPU with ATI cards.
Please use commentaries to this post or thread at NGHQ forums to report errors, if they’ll occur. Reports with positive results are also appreciated.

I know I already posted this to the main thread, but I’ll leave this here as well:
Tried the winxp patch with the newest nvidia drivers and no luck. (XP 64, sapphire 4870 + evga 8600gt)
It seems that it’s looking for the .dll in odd places in XP64. nvapi64.dll is in the wow64 folder (the patch tries to find it in a different folder. I tried to work around it by copying it to another folder, patching it, and replacing the old file, but I have no idea if that works since the program does not find nvapi.dll no matter what I do. It looks like the patch program looks for windowsnative or some folder like that).

Agua, it wasn’t tested on XP x64.
The mod is indeed using sysnative environment to access system folder. I read in microsoft artiles that sysnative should be supported in both 2003 x64 and XP x64, that’s why i thought it would work fine.
Anyway, you may try to point to the files manually when the mod asks for them.
decayed.cell, CUDA is being used for PhysX – so it works, and it is silly to judge by GPU-Z app only.

Hmm must be a problem with this particular configuration and Badaboom then

GenL,
Thanks for the response. Here is the interesting thing: when the program asks for file location manually, it does not find nvapi64.dll. It finds nvapi.dll (which is in the SysWOW64 folder and not the system32 folder–and I triple checked to make sure I was directing the program to the correct folder), but it cannot find nvapi64.dll in the System32 folder, even though I have confirmed that nvapi64.dll is located there. Even if I select “all files” in the drop-down menu, nvapi64 does not exist on that list, which is really confusing.
I can send screenshots if you want just in case I’m doing something wrong. Any other thoughts? Thank you for working on this. It made B:AA so much more fun.

DO NOT USE MOD 1.02. IT CONTAINS THE Infostealer.Gampass VIRUS.

Yeah, some antivirus programs doesn’t like it. GenL’s answer: “This is just dumb that some antivirus is not familiar with freeware executable packers (which are around for a few years already).”
Thousand of people are using this mod, and I haven’t heard that it’s doing any harm, so I guess it’s OK.

GenL,
So, I just discovered something. I’m googling the issue now, but I’ve come up dry so far. Apparently, when using any of the “open dialog” boxes, when you double click on ‘windows\system32\’ it actually opens up the folder ‘windows\syswow64\’. I’m having trouble with other issues at the moment that highlighted this. If you know anything about this issue, just let me know.

If I understand this correctly (which I might not), you might have to disable the WOW64 redirection that happens on x64 OSes. If you’ve already coded that in, then I’m at a loss.
(I’d tried this hotfix, but it has not worked thus far: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942589).

This mod works very well with my GTX260+HD5870/Win7×64 setup – all respect to GenL. Avast detected it as malware but like most AV software false positives are fairly common – it’s now on it’s list of exceptions and I’ve still got no virus problems after a couple of months, as I expected. Good work!

I applied the patch did the changes and ran the nvidia physx screensaver, all is fine, but…
I installed the bench of dark void and can only activate low physx settings due to the lack of an nvidia card?
Genli? Any suggestions?

Dark Void benchmark only allows to use Low PhysX settings. High and Medium – in full game.

Mirror’s Edge isn’t working very well with hybrids. Try to delete PhysXDevice.dll file (backup it previously) in ME installation directory, this may help.
You can also check Batman: AA Demo, Cryostasis playble demo, Darkest of Days Demo to verify if your hybrid is working fine

As Ksaplostra says, to run Mirrors Edge with hardware PhysX you need to delete the files PhysXCore.dll and PhysXDevice.dll from \Mirror’s Edge\Binaries\PhysXLocal\
Don’t delete PhysXLoader.dll – I found this out from another forum and get a steady 60fps with PhysX enabled and everything maxed out at 1920×1080 (except with Antialiasing on 4x)

I recently bought a 5870 and I have an old 9800GTX lying about, is there a guide here explaining exactly what I have to do to get this working because I don’t really want to mess about with things I don’t have full knowledge of.
Thank you

First of all, I’m running ATI 5870 and Nvidia GTX 260 under Win7 64-bit. So far, I’ve tried using 196.21 and 195.62 WQHL drivers, installing under normal windows or in safe mode. I have to apply the 1.02 mod in safe mode, since windows never asks to restart. When I apply the mod, I see several “Pattern not found” lines, but two (I think) files are still patched and I can enable PhysX from Nvidia control panel. However, when I enabled PhysX in Batman: AA (High setting) or ran the FluidMark: PhysX fluid simulation OpenGL benchmark (oZone3D.Net), I see no difference between PhysX being enabled or disabled (no destructable surfaces in Batman:AA; same score in FluidMark). Some game that I have installed Nvidia PhysX software in the past and it still shows up in my Control Panel but I can’t run it due to some nv file missing. Should I uninstall all Nvidia PhysX software prior to installing Nvidia drivers and applying the mod?

I want to install a second hand Ageia pyhsX card to run alongside my 4890. I already have the drivers and Ageia control panel installed as they seem to have been included with Unreal Tornament 3 (at least I think it was this game). They’re date 2007. Will the physX work and will it continue to do so with newer games eg Batman AA?

Afaik, some newest PhysX games are still playble with old PPU – Mirror’s Edge, Batman and Dark Void with lowest PhysX settings.
However, trying to fire up a PPU with ATI card may be a problem. Old PPU drivers probably won’t work properly with recent PhysX games, and new PhysX drivers won’t support ATI+PPU setup.
But there is also mod for PPU drivers, so you can try it out.

I can’t seem to get this to work. I have a ATI 5770 and an Nvidia 9800 GTX. I’ve tried with Catalyst 10.2 and 10.3. For Nvidia drivers I’ve tried 196.21, 196.34, and 195.62. The Physx patch I’ve tried is 1.01 and 1.02.
I’ve followed multiple guides to try slightly different ways. I can have Physx enabled in the Nvidia control panel, but GPU-Z won’t show it’s enabled, and Fluidmark won’t run.
Now I keep getting an issue saying it can’t find phyxloader.dll and I should reinstall the program. Reinstalling and restarting my computer doesn’t do anything. I have reinstalled all drivers, or just the nvidia drivers quite a few times. I uninstall from the control panel, then user Driver Sweeper in safe mode.
Anybody have any ideas? I really want this to work.

Finally got it working.. (yeh, i told norton to shut up).
Then installed cuda (wanted to do some folding)..
Had to start all over again…
But i run into one problem :
When running fluidmark once… i got no problems…
When running fluidmark for the second time.. my system just hangs.
Now trying to get some game which has physx to try it on ingame.
W7 64, 197.13, 10.3, 9.10.0129(if im right, got like 5 versions). 5870, 9800GT.
Also used this : Hybrid_PhysX_197.13_ED___LP_Fix_V1.02
and the 1.02 mod.

Anyone got it working with PhysX_10.02.22_9.10.0222_SystemSoftware ???
Is the one that comes with Metro 2033. After installing it FluidMark would only run on software mode no matter what. I reinstalled drivers and nothing and patch. I’d have to reinstall an older Physx software I guess.

well, it said no virus. explain this to me
D:\progz\phsyx\PhysX-mod-1.02.rar » RAR » PhysX-mod-1.02\PhysX-mod-1.02.exe – a variant of Win32/Spy.Agent trojan
Now i cant open some of my programs.
BingBar came up for second time, when i installed it.
Didnt think it was this. And i did a full reinstall with formating my disk for the first time using it.
What happends..
#1
After reinstalling windows, to test this i just installed this program, and my explorer is messed up. cant use it normaly. And the downloads starts acting funny. Have to cancle em if they dont get a time out.
#2
If i try to open my msn the main contact window opens, but not the chat rooms.
#3
My mouse cursor did disapare sometimes, had to reboot to fix it.
So the mod works well, but what`s the point of using it when this happends?
As i tested it, this is the only program installed after formating and reinstalled windows. no more disks, only a singel SSD. so the virus has to come from this file, and the problems.
Can you guys clean the files? and upload a proper file please.

If you really experincing strange behaviour, provide normal feedback to mod creator – GenL. “Downloads acting funny” – that is not explanation.

I have an Asus Rampage II Gene with 2 5850s in crossfirex. This motherboard of course only has 2 pci-e 16x slots. But it also has a pci-e x4 slot. I know that you can run a video card in the x4 slot so here is my question. Could I add say a 9800GT to the x4 slot and use it for dedicated physX???

Yes, this is possible. Example – 2×5870 + 9800GT
As for PCI-E, x4 is sufficient enough. Tests

Ok so I got everything working with my two 5850s CrossfireX and a 9800GT for physx. My only problem is that when I reboot it keep trying to boot to the 9800GT instead of my 5850s. I have the 9800GT connected to the VGA port in one of my monitors so that it shows up in Windows. Do I even have to do this? Is there a way to change which PCI-E slot to load first or something. It’s just annoying that every time I reboot or I have to set everything back up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

GenL My system will not notice my 9800gtx+ card when my 5870 is installed (setup error: The nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit.) 9800 is in 1’st buy itself fine, second slot nothing, 5870 1’st or 2′nd slot fine. I’ve tried drivers 91 thru 97. Both cards and patch worked on this system before took card out for a while now it won’t.

Well, I tried it and it worked, but because of the proximity of the two cards the setup wasn’t tenable. However, the Song is still on my computer. Totally awesome, I recorded it so that I could put it on mine and my sister’s mp3 players.
