Hm, strange APEX requirements.
I can understand, why decent dedicated GPU is required – but why a GTX 480 as main graphics, and i7 CPU ?! APEX effects just won’t add that much details

I don’t think that it really needs specs like this for APEX. But we will see when game will be released. Interesting is that in recommended settings you need only 9800GTX but in recommended settings using APEX you need much more better card even if you have dedicated PhysX GPU. Does it mean that APEX has capability to use more than one card to compute physcal instrutions?

10.04.02_9.10.0522? Now where is the version number and where is the date?.. this is confusing.

to name me:
so i tink, GTX260, 275, 285 run Mafia 2 in 1680×1080, high settings and HIGH APEX
marketing is only high-settings APEX, GTX480, 470 …
but how wrote mareknr – in recommended is 9800GTX+, but in APEX medium settings is GTX260 + 9800GTX+ ..

Game with High APEX settings will need dedicated PhysX GPU. I think that one GPU isn’t enough for graphics and PhysX.

Just be patient, wait a year or two before playing it and then the hardware requirements are easy, plus the game is much cheaper.
As for the requirements, I imagine the APEX stuff has fluid particle effects with like 1000000x overdraw…

I think this means that you are better off with a 5870+GTX260-216 than a GTX480?

Is it game or NVIDIA advertising?

Of course it is a marketing ploy by Nvidia
OK if you want to play Mafia II at a resolution
of 2560 x 1600 with 16 x FSAA and 16 x AF
with everything on ultra settings then having
two GPUs (one for graphics and the other as
a dedicated PhysX card) but with 1680 x 1050
on high settings a single GTX460 to 480 should
be able to handle both graphics, physX and apex.
I would be interested to see if using CPU supported
physX could be tweaked to it’s full potential.

Now 2K specs are looking strange.. even HD 5870 can’t handle Mafia2 above 30 fps on full settings (without APEX).. there is no point to “recommend” 9800GTX then

@Zogrim
looks like fake, old drivers used in test, and ForceWare 197.13 doesn’t support GF100.
anyway, demo will be out at 10th august, we`ll see.

The benchmark in the demo tells me that the recommendations are not so true
Here are my results:
C2D E8500@3.8GHZ | ATI HD5870@Stock | no Physx | AAon | 16xAF ==> ~55.5FPS
C2D E8500@3.8GHZ | ATI HD5870@Stock | medium Physx | AAon | 16xAF ==> ~23.1FPS
C2D E8500@3.8GHZ | ATI HD5870@Stock | no Physx | AAon | 16xAF ==> ~14.1FPS (immersive but too low FPS)
I decided to buy an 9800gt green edition, when the game lauches.
