New Hybrid PhysX Mod 1.04ff is out

with 103 comments

GenL has released new 1.04ff version of Hybrid PhysX mod – now it works with 257.21 GeForce drivers and newer.

Update: Hybrid PhysX mod 1.05ff is available

Description:

This mod will enable hardware PhysX support for NVIDIA GPU, when non-NVIDIA GPU is used as a primary display device.

  • intended only for WDDM 1.1 OS (Windows 7) and NT5 WDM OS (Windows XP/2003).
  • only for multi-vendor multi-GPU configurations.

1.04ff – 29/06/2010:

  • removed support for fixing GeForce driver binaries as current 256 series don’t need this (dropped support of all older 19x series drivers)
  • added support for fixing a new limitation in PhysX System Software, introduced in 9.10.0223 (aka 9.10.0528/9.10.0529)
  • added extra optional command line files (nvsvc and PhysX related)
  • removed most of gfx/sfx stuff (the mod is now tiny and no more requires 96dpi mode)

You can download Hybrid PhysX mod 1.04ff from our server (not available, use NGOHQ instead)

Q: Why do we need both v1.03 and v1.04ff, which should I use?
A: If you are not going to use anything older than 257.21 – forget about v1.03 and use v1.04ff. The mod v1.03 is intended for old 19x series and 9.10.0222 (+older) PhysX SS.

If you update any component from the [old] 19x.xx and/or 9.10.0222 (+older) to [newer] 256 series and/or 9.10.0223 (+newer) – you should apply the mod v1.04ff afterwards. The mod v1.04ff will not help with 19x series GeForce driver.

For download, FAQ and installation instructions please refer to Hybrid PhysX thread at NGOHQ

Update: 1.04ff mod works with 258.69 Beta; 258.96 Beta/WHQL; 259.09; 259.31; 259.32; 259.47 WHQL; 260.63 Beta; 260.89 Beta/WHQL; 260.93 Beta; 260.99 WHQL; 261.00 Beta GPU drivers and 9.10.0224; 9.10.0512; 9.10.0513; 9.10.0514 PhysX System Software

  1. Hello everyone,

Do you guys noticed after 260 driver. The PhysX will not work with 3D mark avantage? I have this problem even everything has been enabled (There is no problem with FuidMark)

Anyone have idea how to fix this?

    Thanks!

  2. By the way, what I mean is when I run 3D mark vantage, the PhysX did not work. But it works with other PhysX application…

I haven’t had any issues. Everything seems to be working fine. In fact my Vantage scores went up a little. Have you tried running the “PhysX-HwSelection-set-GPU” script in the extras folder?

  4. Thank you so much for your reply. Yeah, I did and I can see everything has been enabled from GPU-Z.
Do you know what I am talking about? Normally, The PhysX will help us get very high CPU score, right? but after I installed 262.99 or 260.99, the PhysX will not work on 3D mark vantage. : (
The reason why I need 260 driver is that I have a 580 as PhysX device. I used to have 258 driver for my old 480, it works great. But I can not install 258 driver with 580. : (

Did you ever try 262.99 with 3D mark vantage?

    Thanks!

  5. Is there any possible after 260 driver, the PhysX will not help on 3D mark vantage?

  6. or can you teach my how to install old driver on 580? I have tried to modify the INF, but it did not work for me. It seems 580 need few more additional new model files. : (

  7. I pretty much sure this is driver issues. I put my old 480 back to case and install the 262.99 driver. It did not work with 3D mark vantage too. But when I re-install 258 driver, everything just works fine!

  8. I think the new 262 driver added more limitation. sometimes even the GPU-Z reported everything has been enabled. I sitll can not get GPU PhysX on FuidMark 1.2.2 (old version of FuidMark works)

Well, I stand corrected. You are correct that these drivers have disabled the PhysX optimization with 3DMark Vantage. Very odd! I ran a couple of games, Mafia 2 and Metro 2033 and PhysX is still working there.

Heck maybe it is a good thing they disabled PhysX for Vantage. I onno!

By the way this is my Hybrid setup: 2 x 5850’s and a GTS 250.

  11. They don’t disable PhysX for Vantage for their own card. If you run Vantage with Nvidia card as main render, you will still get the optimization from PhysX. I think the new 260 driver have more limitations then 258 driver.
Are you working on new release about PhysX mod? I think this is the good thing to look at. Nvidia has changed the driver once more to protect PhysX from us. : (

  12. Do you have how can I install old driver on Nvidia 580? I hope I can install 258 driver on it…

  13. Hey, my drivers are the latest official from ATI and NVIDIA, but in 3D Mark Vantage there is no GPU accelerated physx. :( Can someone tell me something? :( Everywhere else I have GPU Physx. :(

Physx will Not work in 3D Mark Vantage with the latest Nvidia’s drivers.
Install any previous nvidia driver if you wanna make it work.
I think the 259 driver will work.

However is there any point to have physx in 3D Mark?

I just wanna make comparison between GPU and CPU physx… whatever
I installed FluidMark, but no chance to run it by GTS 250… It only uses CPU, even with 2 times run patch and .cmd line for GPU.
I think that new drivers are not very usable, which is the latest driver for nvidia that works best with physx patch. Also I think that there is no sense of using latest drivers, cuz they are most written for new GTX 400 and 500 series.

To get FluidMark to work you have to delete the “PhysXDevice.dll” in the FluidMark folder.

    Hi,
Did they use Genl mod 1.04ff to enable physx in this benchmark?

Yes they would have had to because they used the 258.96 drivers and PhysX 9.10.0513 system software. They also also give a link to GenL’s NGOHQ forum page which gives you all the information you need to get a hybrid working. All this information is on page 6 of the article.
