Enhanced PhysX panel in new GeForce 256 Family of drivers
Today, Nvidia has presented new 256 Family of GeForce/ION drivers. Among from other features, like improved performance for GTX 400 Series GPUs, Blu-Ray 3D, CUDA 3.1 and OpenGL 4.0 support, new drivers are introducing enhanced configuration panel for Multi-GPU and PhysX configurations, with more intuitive interface.

In addition, it’s now posible to specify which GPU use for each CUDA (and PhysX) application via Manage 3D settings page.

You can download beta version of 257.15 Drivers here. PhysX System software 9.10.0222 included.

Does it work with the physx 1.03 mod?

think this would work if if I’m using an ATI 5790 as primare gpu to drive 3 monitors in eyefinity and then use a gtx250 as physx card?

I can confirm that the 257.15 beta driver do work with Hybrid PhysX mod 1.03. The only thing I can see is that they took the enable/disable menu out of the driver settings. Which is odd!

Oh nvm I just found the settings. Apparently it’s automatic. If you look in the “Manage 3D Settings” there is an option that says, “CUDA – GPUs” which if you read the description it says, “Allows you to specify which GPUs can be used by CUDA applications, including PhysX.”
I just left the ,”Adjust image settings with preview” to “Let the 3D application decide” and hardware PhysX is running just fine.

Zogrim did you try specify CUDA GPU in Just Cause 2? I’ll try during this weekend. I hope it will work.

I’ve played only demo. Dunno if it worth reinstalling just to check this new feature.

Which physX-Card do you use?
Is this new driver only for GTX250 and above?
Or will it work with 8800GT for example too?

Dee Dee the PhysX tab should still be there so I am under the assumption that the 1.03 patch is not working correctly.
I do get hardware physx support (with a -5 average frame rate drop in fluidmark over the previous drivers) but I think hw physx would have worked if I did not patch with 1.03…
Just Cause 2 will not use CUDA, and badaboom will not work.
- I’m going to uninstall/clean the nvidia driver and test w/out the 1.03 patch.
an image I found in the guru3d forms showing the PhysX tab (http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/3711/physxcpu.jpg)

Update: Patch 1.03 is still required for hardware PhysX.

I know that there “should” be a tab there. But I don’t think it is there because of the ATI cards being present. Another Nvidia trick maybe for ATI users? This is why you still need the mod. So is it showing the tab for you?
Anyone getting the tab using a hybrid set up?

Same for me, no tab. But PhysX is working, because it is set to “Auto-select” by default, i suppose.
I wonder why they’ve added monitor config display at the PhysX page…

Thanks for verifying that I’m not the only one not seeing the PhysX tab.
It may be set to auto-select when the Nvidia GPU is not the main rendering GPU. It might assume that you are using the Nvidia GPU as a dedicated PhysX GPU.
Or, like I said above, this could be something that Nvidia has added when it detects a none Nvidia GPU. Maybe trying to kill off the Hybrids again!?!?
I’m not sure what the purpose of the monitor config is for PhysX. Without being able to see the PhysX tab I can’t even test it.
I’ll try some thing to see if I can get that tab showing.

Alright so it looks like the PhysX tab is disabled when either a) an Nvidia card is not the primary GPU or b) when Nvidia detects a non Nvidia GPU.
What I did was uninstall all the Nvidia drivers and when I rebooted and installed the Nvidia drivers again and since the Nvidia GPU was being used as the primary display adapter, when I went into the settings, the PhysX tab was there with the whole new look like above.
Once I restarted again and my ATI GPUs took over as being the primary display adapters, going back into the Nvidia settings, the tab is gone!
Either way as long as you install the 1.03 patch hardware PhysX still works!
Maybe there is a work around this or maybe not. Maybe someone can find it.

It’s just because they are using whole-new control panel now, with new modules. Not sure if i can find a way to fix it, but seems like it will take time either way.

How am I supposed to know if it works on 8800GTs also? I’m using a GTS 250. If you would have read some of the other comments on here you would have seen that Tom is using a 9800GTX so why you getting mad at me? I didn’t ignore you I just didn’t have an answer for you. You want me to lie to you when I don’t know for sure? Gees give me a break!

Guys, we’ve just found out (thanks to Gaul for original post) that PhysX mod is not needed for this driver. GPU-PhysX works out-of-the-box, you just need to have a fake monitor set to your nvidia GPU, extended for Windows XP. On Windows 7 it should work even without extension.
