PhysX warning message in Batman Arkham City
Answer ID 3166   |    Published 11/08/2012 09:12 AM   |    Updated 11/08/2012 09:12 AM

If the player has more than one GPU and at least one of them is PhysX-capable, PhysX is set to normal by default. If the player has a single DX11-capable PhysX-capable GPU with at least 1 GB of video memory, PhysX is set to normal by default. In any other situation, PhysX is disabled by default.

If the player does not have a PhysX capable GPU, or the player has a single GPU but it has 512 MB or less of video memory, they will get a warning popup message when they try to enable PhysX normal or high. But anyone can ignore the warning and enable PhysX regardless of their hardware.

PhysX System Software 9.12.1031.
This version fixes a bug that caused some applications including Unreal Tournament III, Trine, and Metro 2033 not to launch.

I put a copy at Google drive, i hope everyone can access it

The new GeForce 310.61 beta drivers are now available to download. Otherwise identical to last week's 310.54 beta driver, 310.61 beta improves compatibility in Hitman: Absolution and Planetside 2, and supports a new Black Ops II SLI profile that's available through NVIDIA update.

Batman: Arkham City: Performance increased by 7.6% at 1920x1080 when using Very High detail settings, Tessellation High, PhysX High and FXAA High. At 2560x1600, using 4xMSAA, performance increased by 5.2%.

Borderlands 2: Performance increased by 5.3% at 2560x1600 when using max settings and PhysX High. At 1920x1080 performance increased by 3.3%.

Metro 2033: Performance increased by 4.6% at 1680x1050 when using max DirectX 11 settings, Depth of Field, and Advanced PhysX.

No new feature for FluidMark, it?s still based on PhysX 2.8.4 (I will start very shortly the dev of new tests/benchmarks with PhysX 3.x, just few things to finish before). FluidMark 1.5.1 is a maintenance release and comes with ZoomGPU 1.8.12 that supports latest NVIDIA GPUs (GTX Titan as well as some notebook GPUs like GTX 600M series, GT 600M series). And for command line lovers, two new parameters have been added to launch FluidMark with Preset:1080 or Preset:720 (scores can be stored in a CSV file).

You can download PhysX FluidMark 1.5.1 here

The purpose of this article is to discuss how to incorporate GPU accelerated effects into a project without negatively impacting the overall performance and framerate of a game.

The key to making this work is to run all visual effects independently of the main game thread and rendering pipeline.  While the concept is simple, as always, the devil is in the details and there are a lot of things to consider to make this work properly.
